Patrick Boivin, the son of Montreal Canadiens president and CEO Pierre Boivin, has been named the club's director of hockey operations.

General Manager Pierre Gauthier made the change as part of his restructuring plans for the club's front office.

The younger Boivin has worked for the National Hockey League in Montreal the past two years, and also worked in the marketing department for the Canadien for five years.

Gauthier's roll with the organization has stretched to the Hamilton Bulldogs, their AHL affiliate, where he has assumed GM duties since Julien Brisebois left this summer to join the Tampa Bay Lightning to assistant GM Steve Yzerman.
