Restricted free agent Steve Downie agreed to terms on two-year, $3.7M deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.
"We are pleased to get Steve under contract today," said Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman. "We look forward to him building on the success he had last season and becoming an even bigger part of the team."
Last season, Downie set career highs with 22 goals and added 24 assists for 46 points and 208 minutes in penalties.
Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1st round (29th overall) in 2005, the Newmarket, Ontario native was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2007 along with Steve Eminger and a fourth round pick for Matt Carle and a 3rd round pick.
