Mario Lemieux, Chantal Petitclerc receive Order of Canada

OTTAWA -- Retired hockey star Mario Lemieux, Paralympic champion Chantal Petitclerc, and former prime minister Kim Campbell were among those being honoured in Order of Canada ceremonies on Friday.

They are among 53 people that were formally invested in a ceremony at Rideau Hall, home of the Governor General.

Lemieux is being invested as an officer, while Petitclerc becomes a companion of the Order. 

Others being honoured include Ivan Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters, rocker Burton Cummings, former Manitoba premier Gary Filmon, former Nova Scotia premier John Hamm and Alexa McDonough, federal NDP leader from 1995 to 2003.

Operatic tenor Ben Heppner, actress Tantoo Cardinal and Montreal Canadiens president Pierre Boivin are also being invested.
