It appears the Washington Capitals have rid themselves of Michael Nylander's salary.
According to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the Capitals have loaned Nylander to the Florida Panthers, who will pick up most or all of the 18-year veteran's $3 million contract.
Last year, Nylander to Jokerit-Helsinki of the Finnish League as well as Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.
The report indicates the 38-year old Nylander will suit up with the Rochester Americans of the AHL until such time he's ready to return to the NHL.
"He's coming here to help our young guys," Panthers assistant general manager Mike Santos told the Democrat and Chronicle. "He's not coming here grumbling. He wants to resurrect his career for one more shot."
