You knew we had to ask, so let's get right down to it.
Putting aside your own personal team allegiance and die-hard loyalty for just a moment, answer this question honestly: who do you think will take home Lord Stanley's silver next June, and why?
The NHL on TSN panel made their prediction this week, projecting the Detroit Red Wings will return to glory and win the 2011 Stanley Cup. Led by a core group of veterans that includes Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, the Wings also added the leadership qualities of Mike Modano in the off-season, prompting them to be TSN's consensus as champions this season. As TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie put it, "everything old is new again."
So what do you think?
There are numerous questions floating out there in the hockey universe...
Is this finally the year that the Sedins and their Vancouver Canucks go all the way?
Or will Sidney Crosby and Co. bring the Cup back to Pittsburgh for the second time in three seasons?
Perhaps the Blackhawks will defy the odds and score back-to-back Cups; despite some off-season losses from their championship roster, they're still a young and fast squad.
Alex Ovechkin and the offensively-gifted Capitals led the league in scoring by far last season and steam-rolled their way through the 82-game campaign, only to fall unexpectedly to the underdog Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs. Might this be the year Ovy and the Caps deliver the goods?
Coming from another angle, could being named team captain finally be the spark that Joe Thornton needs to lead his Sharks to the promised land?
Will another Canadian team make a surprise run?
Or will the grizzled Wings indeed hoist sport's most celebrated grail once again?
Remember, your prediction will live online eternally, available for all to see come June of 2011; choose wisely if you want bragging rights!
