Already off to a solid start, it appears as though the Nashville Predators have added some extra toughness as they have signed forward Steve Begin to a one-year, two way contract worth $550,000.

The 32-year old Begin is scheduled to head to the Predators' AHL affiliate in Milwaukee for a conditioning stint before joining the Preds.  The Predators were forced to place Begin on waivers after signing him so that they would be able to get him in the lineup when he is deemed ready.

The Trois-Rivieres, Quebec native played in 77 games for the Boston Bruins last season, picking up five goals and nine assists.  He also scored once in 13 Bruins' playoff contests.

In 486 career games split between the Flames, Canadiens, Stars and Bruins, Begin has 52 goals and 48 assists to go along with 535 minutes in penalties.
