TSN.ca's Wednesday Night Hockey Blog: NHL on TSN featured the Toronto Maple Leafs visiting the Washington Capitals and the Calgary Flames hosting the Detroit Red Wings.

Jimmy Howard needed to make just 16 stops as the Red Wings took a 2-1 win over the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. Mike Modano and Justin Abdelkader each had a goal for the Red Wings, who have won five of their last six games. Mark Giordano scored the lone goal for the Flames.

In the earlier game, Washington's Alexander Semin scored in the shootout to lift the Capitals to a 5-4 victory over the Maple Leafs.
