New York Rangers defenceman Marc Staal will not face any discipline from the league over his hit on Calgary Flames forward Matt Stajan in Monday night's 2-1 win over the Flames.
TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that after reviewing the hit, it was deemed legal by the NHL.
Staal caught Stajan with a shoulder-to-head hit in the third period, forcing the Flames' forward to leave the game. Staal was not assessed a penalty on the play and Rangers head coach John Tortorella said after the game that he felt the hit was clean.
