The NHL's board of governors meetings are set to get underway on Monday in Palm Beach, Florida with several major issues on the agenda.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger will be filing daily reports from the meetings starting on Monday.

One of the most important topics on the agenda will be next season's salary cap number which is expected to rise.

Preliminary projections assume the Salary Cap will go up at least another $2 million in the 2011-12 season from the current level of $59.4 million.  This of course is under the assumption that the NHL Players' Association requests a five per cent inflator as is their right.

In addition, NHL Senior Vice-President and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell is expected to make a presentation on behalf of the Hockey Ops department on the rules pertaining to blindside body checks and hits to the head.

Ownership issues are also expected to take centre stage.

The partnership that controls the Calgary Flames will be purchasing the shares of longtime Flames' part-owner Harley Hotchkiss who owns approximately 22% of the team.

As well Matt Hulsizer, co-founder of Peak6 Investments, is scheduled to meet with the Executive Committee on Monday to discuss his intentions to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes from the NHL; however there is not expected to be a vote on the approval of the sale.

Former President of the Anaheim Ducks and Montreal Expos, Tony Tavares will be named interim CEO of the Dallas Stars.  His role will be to keep the Stars finances in order as owner Tom Hicks continues to look for a potential buyer for the team.

Also expected to surface in general discussions is the potential sale or non-sale of the Buffalo Sabres as well as the recent rumours surrounding the sale of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment to Rogers Communications.
