The Edmonton Oilers have lost captain Shawn Horcoff to an MCL right knee injury that could keep him out of the lineup for up to eight weeks.

The injury occurred during the first period of Edmonton's game on Tuesday against Anaheim. Horcoff collided in what appeared to be a knee-on-knee hit with the Ducks' Corey Perry. Horcoff finished his shift, and then left the game and did not return. Perry was unhurt.

Horcoff is the second major loss at forward for the Oilers in a matter of days. Head coach Tom Renney confirmed on Monday that Ales Hemsky may miss a month with a groin injury.

The Oilers are expected to call up at least one player from the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL on Wednesday.
