San Jose Sharks forward Scott Nichol has been suspended four games for his elbow to the head to Phoenix Coyotes defenceman David Schlemko on Monday night and will forfeit $16,344.08 in salary.

The play occurred midway through the third period.  After the hit, Schlemko left the ice and did not return to action.  There was no penalty called on the play.

"He got it in the head pretty hard there, got his bell rung pretty good," Coyotes' Dave Tippett said after the game.

The 36-year-old Nichol has now been suspended six times by the league during his 10-year career.
