The San Jose Sharks have added some grit to their forward corps.

The club acquired winger Ben Eager from the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday for a fifth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

In 34 games played this season, Eager has three goals and seven assists with 77 penalty minutes.

He is currently serving a four-game suspension for a sucker-punch to the head of Toronto's Colby Armstrong.

Eager was traded to Atlanta last summer shortly after winning the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks. He will be joining his fourth NHL club, having begun his career with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Eager was originally a first-round pick (23rd overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2002, although he never skated for the team.

The 26-year-old Ottawa, Ontario native has 30 goals, 32 assists, and 698 penalty minutes in 289 NHL games.
