Peter Forsberg's return to the NHL appears to have hit a bit of a snag.

The Denver Post is reporting that immigration issues could potentially delay Forsberg's return to the Colorado Avalanche's lineup.

"There's some logistics that need to be taken care of," head coach Joe Sacco told the Post following the Avs' morning skate on Monday.

The 37-year-old Forsberg, who signed a one-year, $1 million pro-rated contract for the remainder of the season on Sunday, has been practicing with the team for the past two weeks.  He skated on a line with the Avs' healthy scratches David Koci and Kyle Cumiskey at practice.

"You know, I really don't know what's going to happen," Forsberg told the Post. "I know I have to do it. I know they're working on it and hopefully will get it done as soon as possible. I don't know the specifics."

The two-time Stanley Cup champion has battled foot issues for years and has not skated in the NHL since a nine-game stint with Colorado during the 2007-08 season where he had a goal and 13 assists.  He played 23 games with MODO of the Swedish Elite League last season and finished with 11 goals and 19 assists.  He also represented Sweden at the Olympic games last year in Vancouver.  He had one assist in four games.
