San Jose Sharks forward Dany Heatley has been suspended two games for his hit to the head of Dallas Stars forward Steve Ott on Tuesday night.

Late in the third period, Ott passed the puck away with Heatley bearing down on him. After the puck was released, Heatley continued toward Ott and stuck out his forearm, striking the Stars' agitator in the head.

Heatley was assessed a two-minute minor penalty for interference on the play.

"Protect the guys," said Ott after the game. "We're going to have guys that are going to be icing heads now. You only have one brain, so let's honestly start figuring something out."

Heatley will miss the Sharks' next two games against Minnesota and against St. Louis, and  will be eligible to return March 23 against Calgary. He will forfeit $80,645.16 in salary.
