DETROIT - Henrik Zetterberg will be day-to-day for the playoffs, Niklas Kronwall should be ready to go and Chris Osgood will be out.

That's the latest on the Detroit Red Wings' three injured players availability for the Stanley Cup playoffs, which begin next week.

Detroit lost Zetterberg, the team's leading scorer with 80 points, for its final two regular-season games -- both against the Chicago Blackhawks -- on Wednesday night in a 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The centre sustained a lower-body injury when he was checked by the Hurricanes' Bryan Allen.

He wore a brace on his left knee Thursday after he underwent a MRI. He lifted weights while the rest of the team practiced.

Both Zetterberg and Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said Zetterberg will be day-to-day for the playoffs, which will begin for Detroit either Wednesday or Thursday.

Kronwall, a defenceman who has missed the last three games because of an upper-body injury and will also miss the final two regular-season contests, says he'll be ready when the playoffs begin. Kronwall skated Thursday and Friday.

Osgood, the usual backup goaltender, hasn't sufficiently recovered from sports hernia surgery on Jan. 4.

So Joey MacDonald, who has served as the backup in Osgood's absence, will back up Jimmy Howard when the playoffs begin, according to Detroit general manager Ken Holland.
