Boston Bruins defenceman Andrew Ference will not be suspended for his hit on Montreal Canadiens centre Jeff Halpern in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference quarter-final series on Wednesday.

Ference took part in a disciplinary hearing over the phone on Thursday.

Halpern fell to the ice after taking a shoulder from Ference in the corner midway through the third period. He was helped off the ice with the assistance of the Bruins trainer and headed to the locker room but returned to the game shortly after.

"I didn't see the replay," Canadiens head coach Jacques Martin said after the game. "You know, it's one of those incidents that happens during the game."

Ference was recently fined $2,500 by the league for his single-figured gesture in Game 4 of the series.
