The top- seeded Vancouver Canucks defeated the Nashville Predators 1-0 in the opener of the Western Conference semifinals.

Forward Chris Higgins' goal was the difference in the contest, as the Canucks defeat the Predators, 1-0. Maxim Lapierre and Kevin Bieksa assisted on the goal.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series will be played Saturday at Rogers Arena.
