Two quick goals midway through the third period, as well as an empty-netter, gave the Detroit Red Wings a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks in Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinal series.

The victory forces a decisive Game 7 in San Jose on Thursday (8:30pm et/5:30pm pt on TSN).

Logan Couture gave the Sharks the opening goal of the game in the first four minutes of the third period. The 22-year-old collected his fifth goal of the post-season, and his fourth point in the last three games.

Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg tied the contest at 10:38 of the third frame before Valtteri Filppula lifted the Red Wings ahead just under two minutes later.

Red Wings forward Darren Helm sealed the deal with an empty-net goal.
