Tampa Bay forward Simon Gagne's third period goal proved to be the winner, as the Lightning defeat the Boston Bruins 5-3 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final.

Martin St. Louis scored an empty-net goal to seal the deal.

Boston had a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission, two goals by Patrice Bergeron and another from Michael Ryder, but it was all Lightning afterwards.

Back-to-back goals by Teddy Purcell and a goal by Sean Bergenheim in the second period lifted the Bolts into a tie, before Gagne's third period marker gave his club the first lead of the game.

Lightning netminder Dwayne Roloson was pulled in the first period in favour of Mike Smith.

The series is tied 2-2, with Game 5 set to go Monday night in Boston.

The clubs split the first two tests of this best-of-seven series in Boston, with Tampa taking Game 1 and the Bruins knotting the set in the second meeting. The Bruins then grabbed a 2-1 edge in the series with Thursday's shutout victory in Florida.
