Sources say Glen Gulutzan appears to be the last man standing as the Dallas Stars narrow a search for a new head coach.
Gulutzan coached the Texas Stars of the AHL last season. If hired, he would take over for Marc Crawford, who was dismissed in April two days after a loss to the Minnesota Wild that cost the Stars a trip to the post-season.
Crawford lasted two seasons in Dallas, missing the playoffs both times.
Unsuccessful candidates for the Dallas Stars' head coaching job have reportedly been informed of the decision.
Gulutzan has been the coach of the Stars' top farm club for two years and led the team to the Calder Cup Final in 2010. He spent the previous six years as head coach of the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers.
There is no timeline as to when an announcement might be made.
