The NHL salary cap has been set, and as expected it's just short of $5 million more for the 2011-12 season.

The upper limit of the cap is $64.3 million, up from the upper limit of $59.4 million last season.

The cap floor is set at $48.3 million.

The league's cap - entering its seven season under the current collective bargaining agreement - has risen every year since the end of the NHL lockout when the cap was set at $39-million.
