The Vancouver Canucks have signed restricted free agent Maxim Lapierre to a two-year deal worth $2-million.

Lapierre scored six goals and six assists in 78 during the regular season last year. He also provided three goals and two assists during the Canucks playoff run.

"I had a great experience with the Canucks, they gave me a second chance -- a real second chance -- and I'm really happy to be back in a great organization," Lapierre said on a conference call Wednesday afternoon.

The St-Leonard, Quebec native was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

In 333 career games, the 26-year-old has 41 goals and 84 points.

"We liked the feistiness that he brought on the ice," assistant general manager Laurence Gilman said. "He brought a dimension to our team that, I think, was needed."
