The Detroit Red Wings added to their blue line on Saturday by signing Ian White to a two-year deal worth $5.75 million.
The deal will pay White $2.875 million per season.
It will be White's fifth club in the last 18 months. He was traded from Toronto to Calgary in January, 2010, and was then dealt to Carolina and San Jose before becoming an unrestricted free agent at the end of last season.
The 27-year-old scored a combined four goals and 22 assists in 77 games with three teams last year. He had one goal and eight assists during 17 playoff games with the Sharks.
White was a sixth-round pick of the Maple Leafs in 2002. The native of Steinbach, Manitoba has 36 goals and 143 points in 401 NHL contests.
