The Nashville Predators signed defenceman Tyler Sloan to a new contract on Thursday.

Sloan, 30, appeared in 33 games last season for the Washington Capitals and had one goal and five assists. The Capitals bought out his contract on June 30, which made Sloan an unrestricted free agent.

Sloan earned $700,000 last season and was scheduled to make the same amount in 2011-12 before his contract was bought out.

The 6'4", 204-pound Calgary native has played in 99 NHL contests over three seasons, all with the Capitals.
