The Montreal Canadiens added some depth to their bottom two lines on Wednesday, claiming forward Blair Betts off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Betts, who was waived by the Flyers on Tuesday, is expected to join the Canadiens in Toronto when the club takes on the Maple Leafs in their season opener.

Betts, 31, has played 477 career NHL games with the Flyers, Calgary Flames and New York Rangers.

The Canadiens also placed defenceman Jeff Woywitka on waivers and sent forwards Andreas Engqvist, Michael Blunden, Ian Schultz and Aaron Palushaj to Hamilton of the American Hockey League.
