Toronto Maple Leafs starting goaltender James Reimer has been placed on injury reserve, retroactive to Saturday.

Reimer's agent, Ray Petkau, said Reimer felt fine before Wednesday's skate but developed a headache during the practice, which got progressively worse.

Doctors are still unsure if Reimer's symptoms (injury) are related to Brian Gionta's hit on Saturday, however, based on how he was feeling, a decision was made to shut him down.

Petkau said Reimer is planning on working out on Friday providing his symptoms have cleared.

Ben Scrivens was recalled from the Toronto Marlies to back up Gustavsson.

Reimer is eligible to return on Sunday.
