No decision was made Monday on Edmonton Oilers defenceman Andy Sutton following his meeting with NHL vice-president of player safety Brendan Shanahan.
Sutton completed his hearing on Monday afternoon after delivering a hit to the head on Colorado Avalanche rookie Gabriel Landeskog on Friday night.
The in-person meeting allows the league to impose a suspension of more than five games if it so chooses.
Sutton received a two-minute elbowing minor when he caught Landeskog with what the league described in a statement as a "check to the head" during a collision near the Edmonton blue line.
Sutton was immediately engaged in a fight with Colorado's Shane O'Brien after the incident. Landeskog appeared unhurt on the play.
"They may look at it, they might not," said Sutton following the game to the Edmonton Journal. "I'd do it (that play) again."
Sutton missed Edmonton's game on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues.
