After suffering more injuries in Thursday's loss to the Nashville Predators, the Toronto Maple Leafs got some promising news on Friday.

Injured goaltender James Reimer spent about 35 minutes on the ice in with goaltending consultant Francois Allaire. He wore full equipment and faced some softer shots from the top of the slot and in close.

During another sequence, Allaire and strength and conditioning coach Anthony Belza passed the puck back and forth while Reimer followed the puck across the ice. He was wearing what appeared to be a heart-rate monitor on his wrist and checked it after each sequence.

Reimer has been making some progress off the ice, so the team decided to take it another step by allowing him to go on the ice.

Despite Reimer's progress, head coach Ron Wilson told the media that he won't be ready to play for a week to 10 days, and that's only if things progress smoothly.

The news on Mike Komisarek and Matthew Lombardi was not as positive. Lombardi left Thursday's game in Nashville with an upper-body injury and later left the arena with his left arm in a sling. Komisarek also left the game with an upper-body injury.

Both players are expected to miss a minimum of three weeks.

Clarke MacArthur, who sat out Thursday's game with an upper-body injury, is not expected to play on Saturday, but the team hopes he'll be back for Tuesday's game in Tampa.

Round 1 continues with the Blue Jackets' Marian Gaborik taking on Magnus Paajarvi of the Oilers.
