The injury wave continues to wash over the Toronto Maple Leafs as defenceman Mike Komisarek is expected to miss eight weeks with a broken arm.

Komisarek blocked a shot on the arm in the third period of Thursday's 4-1 loss to Nashville. The veteran defenceman, who  has one goal and three assists in 18 games this season on the Maple Leafs blue line, will require surgery.

Toronto will call up a defenceman after tonight's game against Washington for their upcoming road trip. The team plays again on Sunday night in Carolina.

Komisarek joins a growing list of Leafs who are sidelined, including centre Matthew Lombardi, who also left Thursday's game with an upper-body injury and will be out a minimum of three weeks.

The news comes on the heels of the team losing forward Mikhail Grabovski for two weeks.

Clarke MacArthur sat out Thursday with an upper-body injury and is not expected to play this weekend, but the team hopes he'll be back for Tuesday's game in Tampa.

Mike Brown is listed as questionable for Saturday's contest against the Washington Capitals. The team recalled Joe Colborne from the AHL Toronto Marlies for Saturday's game.

Meanwhile, goaltender James Reimer continues to rehab from the head injury he suffered in October.
