NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was virtually unbeatable last week and was named the league's first star Monday as a result.
Price posted a 2-0-1 record with a 0.65 goals-against average, .973 save percentage and two shutouts in three starts. His lone loss came in a shootout to Buffalo.
San Jose Sharks defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic was given the NHL's second star of the week while Philadelphia Flyers winger Matt Read took home third star honours.
Vlasic tied for the league scoring lead with seven points (1-6) and a plus-7 rating during three Sharks victories.
Read had four goals in three games for Philadelphia.
