The NHL has fined Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty $2,500 for a cross-check on St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie.
The incident happened with 1.5 seconds left in Tuesday's game between the Kings and Blues in St. Louis. Oshie was about four feet away from the boards with his back to Doughty when the Kings blueliner hit him into the wall. Doughty was given a minor penalty for cross-checking on the play. Oshie appeared to be in pain and went straight to the dressing room.
The league noted that the amount of the fine was the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
