Calgary Flames forward Rene Bourque has been suspended two games for his hit on Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook on Sunday.
Late in the first period, Bourque hit Seabrook from behind, causing the Blackhawks blue liner to slam his head into the glass.
Seabrook remained face down on the ice briefly before he was helped up and skated to the bench on his own. He suffered an undisclosed upper body injury and did not return to the game.
Bourque received a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct on the play.
Bourque will miss games on Tuesday against Minnesota and Thursday versus Detroit.
He will be eligible to return on Friday night in Vancouver against the Canucks.
