TORONTO -- Toronto head coach Ron Wilson is making his Christmas wish known to Santa Claus -- and Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke.
Wilson hinted at his desire for a new contract extension over the holidays with a Twitter post Friday night after the Leafs' 5-3 victory over the New York Islanders.
"This Xmas could be better if Santa stuffs a certain piece of paper in my stocking. .whatcouldthatbe," tweeted Wilson.
Wilson is in the last year of a three-year contract and currently has the team sixth in the Eastern Conference; poised to make the playoffs for the first time during his tenure.
The Leafs are 18-13-4 with 40 points.
