Edmonton Oilers forward Ales Hemsky will not be suspended for his knee-on-knee hit on Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks on Monday night.

Hemsky was assessed a major penalty for kneeing on the play and Burns needed to be helped off the ice.

"I don't think I am a dirty player," Hemsky said after the game. "I hope for the guy. I hope he is OK. You never want to hurt anybody."

While Burns doesn't know the seriousness of the injury yet, he did not accuse Hemsky of any wrongdoing.

"I don't know how bad it is yet. It happens. It's a quick game," said Burns. "I've been on the other end of these. It happens so quick. It's not his fault."

The Oilers face the Canucks in Vancouver on Tuesday before their break for the NHL All-Star Game.
