The NHL has fined New Jersey Devils forward Patrick Elias $2,500 for boarding Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Blunden on Thursday.

The incident happened in the first period of the Devils' 5-3 win over the Habs. Blunden was slow to get up after the hit and did not finish the game. Elias received a two-minute minor for the hit.

Through 49 games this year Elias, 35, has 18 goals and 48 points.
