CALGARY -- The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled defenceman Keith Aulie from the American Hockey League on Tuesday after placing Carl Gunnarsson on injured reserve.

Gunnarsson crashed into the boards during Monday's practice and suffered an ankle injury that will keep him out for at least seven days.

The Swede has two goals and 18 points in 55 games for Toronto this season.

Aulie has bounced back and forth between the Leafs and AHL Marlies, collecting one assist in 15 NHL games this year.

The Leafs kick off a three-game road trip through western Canada against Calgary on Tuesday night.
