A day after being a healthy scratch against the Ottawa Senators, Capitals defenceman Roman Hamrlik had some choice words about head coach Dale Hunter on a Washington radio station on Thursday.
Hunter elected to keep Hamrlik out of the lineup because he felt that the 37-year-old defenceman 'took a bad penalty last game'. That game was Monday against the Hurricanes, where Hamrlik took an elbowing minor early in the first period that led to the first goal of the game. The goal eventually stood as the game-winner.
"You should ask him [Hunter] about penalties," Hamrlik told 106.7 The Fan Radio in Washington. "When he played I think he made lots of penalties himself, so he should know better."
Hamrlik, according to reports from RDS and from Washington media, is available with the NHL trade deadline looming on Monday. He is set to make $3.5 million next season.
