The Los Angeles Kings are staying busy.
A day after acquiring Jeff Carter from the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Kings re-signed defenceman Willie Mitchell to a two-year, $7 million contract extension on Friday.
The 34-year-old stay-at-home defenceman has recorded three goals and nine assists in 55 games this season.
Mitchell was in the final year of a two-year deal that paid him $3.5 million a season. He would have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
