The NHL has decided not to fine or suspend Ottawa Senators forward Kyle Turris for his hit on Boston Bruins defenceman Joe Corvo Saturday night.
Turris had been assessed a boarding minor and had a disciplinary hearing with the league, but he will be available to suit up for the Senators against the Islanders Sunday.
"After reviewing the video extensively as we heard Turris' explanation of how the play developed, we concluded that the head was not targeted intentionally or even recklessly and that the circumstances surrounding the hit contributed significantly to the amount of head contact that resulted,"
Turris, 22, has never been suspended over the course of his 167-game NHL career. He has scored five goals and added 10 assists in 36 games this season. The Senators acquired him on December 17 from Phoenix in exchange for defenceman David Rundblad and a second round draft pick in 2012.
