The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed forward Dustin Penner.

The one-year deal is worth $3.25 million.

The 29-year-old forward scored seven goals and added 11 assists in 65 games with the Los Angeles Kings in 2011-12. He added three goals and eight assists in 20 games, helping the team win its first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Penner has scored 135 goals and 127 assists in 489 career games with the Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks.

He just played the final season of a five-year, $21.25 million contract he signed with the Oilers in 2008.

That deal became something of a lightning rod, since it was the result of an offer-sheet the Oilers submitted to him as a restricted free agent. That contract came after Penner's first full NHL season in which he scored 29 goals as a 24-year-old. He would add three goals and five assists in 21 playoff games, helping the Ducks win the 2007 Stanley Cup.

The Oilers would trade him to the Kings at the 2011 trade deadline in exchange for Colten Teubert and a first-round draft pick.

He was originally signed by Anaheim as an undrafted free agent in 2004.
