The Winnipeg Jets have signed backup goaltender Al Montoya to a one-year deal worth $601,000.

The 27-year-old spent last season with the New York Islanders, posting a 9-11-5 record, with a 3.10 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.

Montoya has played in 57 career NHL games, between the Islanders and Coyotes, after being drafted by the New York Rangers sixth overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
