Rangers sign F Halpern to one-year contract

The New York Rangers signed forward Jeff Halpern on Tuesday to a one-year contract reportedly worth $700,000.

Halpern had four goals and 12 assists for the Washington Capitals last season.

The veteran forward, 36, has played 12 NHL seasons for Dallas, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Montreal, and has twice suited up for the Capitals.

He has 146 goals and 212 assists in 861 NHL games.
