The San Jose Sharks have re-signed defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic to a five-year contract extension.

The website Capgeek.com reports that the deal is worth $21.25 million, with an average annual value of $4.25 million.

In six seasons with San Jose, the 25-year-old has appeared in 471 regular season games where he has posted 22 goals and 133 points.

The six-foot-one, 200-pound Montreal native was originally selected by San Jose in the second round (35th overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft.
