Avalanche re-sign McGinn to two-year-deal

The Colorado Avalanche have re-signed forward Jamie McGinn to a two-year-deal, the team announced in a press release on Friday.

The 23-year-old forward joined the Avalanche last season via a trade deadline deal with the San Jose Sharks and contributed 13 points including eight goals in 17 games.

Split between both teams last season, McGinn had career highs with 20 goals and 17 assists, he also played in a career high 78 games.

"Jamie made an immediate impact from the time he joined our organization," said Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman in a press release.  "We look forward to Jamie building upon last season's performance and are pleased to have agreed to contract terms."

The Fergus, Ontario native was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the second round, 36th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

He played parts of four seasons with the Sharks prior to the deal.
