Gagner made $2.275 million last season, scoring 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points. Eight of those points came in one game against Chicago on February 2, when he potted four goals and four assists. He led the Oilers with a +5 rating last season (tied with Andy Sutton).

Gagner was Edmonton's top pick, 6th overall, in the 2007 draft. He has 77 goals and 143 assists for 220 points in 366 NHL games over five NHL seasons.
