The New Jersey Devils have reportedly re-signed defenceman Mark Fayne and avoided an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Aug. 2.
According to the Bergen Record in New Jersey, Fayne signed a two-year deal worth $2.6 million on Friday.
The 25-year-old blueliner had four goals and 13 assists while playing in all 82 games for the Devils last season. He also had three assists in 24 post-season games during New Jersey's run to the Stanley Cup Final.
The new deal more than doubles the $555,000 that Fayne earned last season. He will reportedly earn $1.2 million next season and $1.4 million in 2013-14.
