If or when the NHL lockout ends, some of its teams will have a chance to bring up a pre-arranged number of CHL junior players for their lineups.

As reported by TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie on Twitter and TSN's Insider Trading feature on Tuesday, NHL teams had to submit a short list last month of no more than two or three drafted CHL juniors they would like to recall if the work stoppage ends and a shortened season gets under way.

Canada's seven NHL teams include Toronto Maple Leaf prospects Morgan Rielly and David Broll, Montreal Canadiens centre Alex Galchenyuk of the Sarnia Sting, Edmonton's Nail Yakupov and David Musil, Cody Ceci and Stefan Noesen of the Ottawa Senators, Frank Corrado of the Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele.

The Calgary Flames were the only Canadian club that did not submit a short list.

Other prominent prospects include Carolina's Victor Rask and Ryan Murphy, Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton, Buffalo's Mikhail Grigorenko, Boone Jenner and Ryan Murray of the Columbus Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues prospect Ty Rattie, Thomas Wilson of the Washington Capitals and Scott Laughton of the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Pittsburgh Penguins included defencemen Scott Harrington, Olli Maatta and Derrick Pouliot, the Anaheim Ducks listed John Gibson and Rickard Rakell, while the Dallas Stars submitted Radek Faksa, Matej Stransky and Brett Ritchie.

Submitting a player's name on the list doesn't mean he will be recalled when the lockout ends, but makes him eligible for consideration.

These players could be recalled to tryout for their respective NHL teams and then normal rules would apply for keeping them or sending them back to junior.

The dynamics of the arrangement are subject to change depending on how long the lockout wears on.
