Edmonton Oilers prospect Nail Yakupov is set to captain the Russian squad throughout the CHL-Russia Super Series next month.
He will play all six games in the nationwide series, including a Nov. 12 date in Sarnia when Russia meets Team OHL in Game 4.
The former Sarnia Sting forward will return to the city he starred in the past two seasons before being drafted by the Oilers first overall in the 2012 NHL Draft.
During his time in the OHL, Yakupov scored 80 goals and 170 points in 107 career games for the Sting.
The 18-year-old has been playing for his hometown squad, Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik, in the KHL during the lockout.
The Super Series pits the Russian juniors against all-star teams of Canadian-born players in the OHL, WHL and QMJHL. The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Val-d'Or Foreurs of the QMJHL host the first two games beginning November 5 before Team Russia heads west to play two games against Team OHL followed by two games against Team WHL.
