NEW YORK - The NHL's deputy commissioner expects collective bargaining talks to resume in the "relatively near future."

Bill Daly told The Canadian Press that the league and NHL Players' Association are still working through logistics. According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com, Daly and NHLPA general counsel Steve Fehr will meet Saturday in undisclosed location to resume bargaining talks.

The sides last met on Oct. 18, when the union responded to the NHL's latest offer by tabling three proposals.

None of those gained any traction.

The NHL has cancelled all of its regular-season games through Nov. 30 and is expected to wipe the Jan. 1 Winter Classic outdoor game off the schedule later Friday.
