Los Angeles Kings centre Anze Kopitar is expected to be out two to three weeks after suffering a minor knee injury while playing in Sweden Saturday.

It's believed he suffered a sprained knee ligament and will return to L.A. to have an MRI to confirm the damage.

"Got tangled up in the corner and it felt funny," Kopitar told Swedish sports journalist Linus Hugosson on Saturday. "Taking this seriously."

Kopitar has spent the NHL lockout playing with Mora IK, where he has nine goals and 20 assists through 27 games.

In 82 games with the Kings last season, he scored 25 goals and 76 points and helped lead the club to its first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
